N:TYPE-NAVY Connector
The origin of the name "N connector" is commonly said to come from the TYPE-NAVY connector, but in fact, the "N" comes from the initials of one of the engineers who developed this connector, Paul Neill from Bell Labs.
This connector is mainly used in radio communication and measurement equipment. It has good frequency characteristics and is primarily used in the UHF band. In ham shops, it is sometimes referred to as the Nancy connector using phonetic code. The standard characteristic impedance is 50Ω, but there are also 75Ω versions. The N connector specified by NTT is called the S-type connector, but due to issues with contact length, it is not compatible with the standard N connector.
